You’ve made plans for a little summer fun. Perhaps Six Flags or a trip to visit friends. Well, the family pooch could use a little summer fun, too. Poor thing (pictured)!
Ah, but thanks to the Friends of Fair Park, you’ve lucked out! The Fourth Annual Dog Bowl at the Cotton Bowl will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on the same football field that was once where the likes of Don Meredith and Roger Staubach played.
To kick things off, a “tail-gate party” will commence at 11 a.m. in the “woof” stock zone outside the Cotton Bowl. But when the clock strikes 1, the Dog Bowl will have live entertainment, givveaways, exhibits and various activities including a pet/owner look-alike contest, an animal-only agility course, canine crafts, Frisbee demos by the Dallas Dog & Disc Club.
Whoa! Ain’t it gonna be too hot for Englishmen and . . . not to worry. There will be misting ponds and giant “dip or sip” dog bowls. Oh, and, yes, there will be cooling refreshments including beer for sale for human consumption.
The event is free and open to the public. Parking is $10 via Gate 11. If you opt to take DART’s Greenline to the Fair Park Station, remember to crate your critter unless they’re service dogs.
We know we don’t have to remind you that dogs need to be non-aggressive and humans need to pick up after their four-legged friends.
